Desktop computers can be a hassle to pack for the purposes of moving or storing. With all those separate components and wires everywhere, it is easy to get intimidated. Here are some tips that may help you pack up your desktop computer:

  • If possible, pack your computer in its original container. This is the best way to prevent your computer from becoming damaged.
  • If the original containers are not available, use good, sturdy boxes that won’t collapse or rip when you handle them.
  • Use plenty of packing material and wrap your monitor with bubble wrap or something similar. Stuffing small pillows and such into gaps also works well.
  • Wrap up all the cords neatly and keep them organized. Don’t just throw a mess of cords into the box.

Using care and proper packing materials will help ensure that you computer is moved safely to your new home, office, or storage.

How to Pack Your Household Items: Mirrors

Filed under: Residential Moving Tips — admin @ 9:31 am

Mirrors are very delicate and must be handled with the utmost care when packing to be moved or stored. Here is some advice:

  • Wrap the mirror with a generous amount of paper or other packing material. Thick blankets work well for this.
  • Boxes are available for specifically packing mirrors. If you can’t find any, or don’t want to buy them, break down an old cardboard box and wrap the mirror with it. Tape the sides to prevent the cardboard from coming off.
  • Always stand your mirror up in the moving truck and/or storage container. Never place mirrors flat on anything, as this is a sure way to break it.
  • Try and place your mirrors someplace safe on the moving truck or storage unit, such as against a wall. Storing them between mattress or box springs is a good idea.

Follow these tips and work carefully when handling mirrors, and you shouldn’t have a problem moving or storing them.
