Moving Boxes

Filed under: General Moving Tips — admin @ 3:03 pm

Whether packing for storage or moving, it is important to know that there are many various types of boxes available to you that can assist you in your task. Using the correct boxes can help ensure that your valuables will not be damaged while in storage or while being moved.

For clothing, medium to large boxes work well since most clothing items are relatively lightweight. Wardrobe boxes are an excellent choice for longer garments which you do not want to fold. These boxes have a rod built into them which can be used to hang up the clothes, preventing them from becoming wrinkled or ruined.

Pod Container Size

Filed under: General — admin @ 9:30 am

SMARTBOX offers one container size. Each of these 5’x 7’x 8’ Smartboxes holds 1 - 1.5 rooms of furniture, with a capacity of 2,000 lbs. The size was chosen because of it’s advantage in helping prevent damage. It is easier to securely pack belongings in several smaller containers than one large one, yet the box is still large enough to accommodate big pieces of furniture, like a king size bed or an oversized armoire. The smaller size also makes the units more affordable so you pay for only the storage you need.

Color-Coordinate Your Boxes

Filed under: General Moving Tips — admin @ 3:09 pm

When moving, it helps to know where all your stuff is after you have packed it all away into boxes. Before you get to the point of rummaging through all your boxes just to find out where they belong, consider this; designate a color for each room in the new home, such as red for the kitchen, blue for the bathroom, etc. Apply colored stickers on the boxes you use for these rooms’ items. At your new home, put a coordinated sticker on the door to each room. This way, you and your friends/helpers will know where to put everything when they arrive at the new place.

How Does The SMARTBOX Process Work?

Filed under: General — admin @ 3:20 pm

Many people are finding SMARTBOX portable storage containers to be the best thing in moving since the invention of the wheel. So how do these portable self storage units work?

After placing a phone call, SMARTBOX will deliver a storage unit to your home, and place it where you specify, like the driveway or the lawn. You will normally be provided with ample time to fill the unit, so there is no ‘race against the clock’ as there usually is with renting a truck. Also, the unit sits on ground level, so there are no moving ramps to deal with.

When you have the unit filled to your liking, simply call and they come pick it up for you, load it onto a truck, and will deliver it wherever you specify. They even offer the option of storing your belongings for you. Once you get it to where you need it, just unpack!

What NOT to Store

Filed under: General, General Moving Tips — admin @ 4:07 pm

SMARTBOX portable storage containers can provide a safe, secure place to store numerous household goods or business supplies. However, there are still some things to keep in mind when deciding what should be stored within these containers. Obviously, nothing alive should be kept inside these containers when closed, for any amount of time. This also applies to plants. In most states, it is against the law to have plants in the back of a moving truck, and these containers do apply to the same standards. Also, do not keep any perishable food items in the storage container, not even for a little while.

SMARTBOX Provides Protection from the Elements

Filed under: General — admin @ 11:05 am

SMARTBOX portable storage containers are becoming very popular due to their ease of use, convenience, affordability, and reliability. One of the most important factors to consider about these storage units is their level of protection from damaging elements.

SMARTBOXes are constructed from wood, which helps protect items inside from changes in temperature and humidity. Rising humidity can create condensation inside storage containers made from different materials, such as metal. This condensation can then cause water damage to stored belongings. To ensure no water can enter the SMARTBOX, the wood on the bottom is pressure-treated. This protects any groundwater from damaging your stored contents. The SMARTBOX is also covered with a heavy-duty water-proof cover to keep out rain.
