SMARTBOX Chicago Donates Storage to WINGS of Palatine

SMARTBOX Chicago donated eight SMARTBOX storage containers to assist in the storage of donated goods to the organization WINGS, Women in Need Growing Stronger. WINGS Palatine Resale Store suffered a debilitating fire earlier this year and SMARTBOX offered its storage facilities to store donated goods until the store could get back on its feet. SMARTBOX Chicago just recently delivered their storage units filled with decorations and holiday items which will be sold to raise money to help domestic violence victims, homeless women and their children.

Greg Kaufman, President of SMARTBOX Chicago, contacted WINGS and offered their support to the organization. “At SMARTBOX, we see the importance and value in giving back to our community. We’re so glad we could help,” said Kaufman. SMARTBOX is currently Chicagoland’s largest provider of eight-foot portable storage containers in Melrose Park, IL.

You are about to move and need to start packing all of those boxes. What a great time to decide what you will keep and what you should get rid of. A moving sale is a great way to lighten your load and put a few bucks in your wallet. Remember, one person’s junk is another person’s treasure.

Here are a few tips from SMARTBOX for a successful moving sale:

1.Saturdays are usually the best day to have your sale; avoid holiday weekends.
2.Publicize your sale. Place an ad in the paper; pass out flyers; put up signs.
3.Put the price sticker in an easy-to-see location.
4.Start saving bags. Have tissue paper or newspaper on hand to wrap breakable items.
5.Keep all sets together. Store loose game pieces in a small bag and secure inside the box.
6.Display items together in groups such as sporting equipment and books. Hang clothing on a clothesline or rack for easy access.
7.Set up a cashier’s station with a cash box and plenty of change. Have on hand a calculator, scissors, tape, and markers.
8.When the sale is over, donate the remaining items.
