Unpacking the Smartbox

Filed under: Portable Storage Information — admin @ 4:19 pm

If you are moving, have a plan in place for when your Smartboxes arrive with your belongings.  In order to prevent chaos and clutter, have a strategy in place when you begin to empty your storage containers.  The garage is the easiest area to neglect when moving into a new home.  Unless you plan on parking you vehicle or vehicles in this space, the garage tends to be a dumping ground for objects or boxes with no clear place inside the house.  Be prepared with a systematic process for organizing objects that have been reserved to garage storage and have them stored together in one Smartbox.  Before you begin to unload this designated pod, make sure that the floor surface and walls are clear before you proceed.  It is much easier to lay a new epoxy layer to the floor before it is covered with your “stuff.”  Also, have shelves or areas in place for storage of specific articles or belongings.  Managing the move will become much easier and less stressful with a plan of action in place, and you will find yourself with more storage area and mobility with an organized new garage.

Storage for Businesses

Filed under: Portable Storage Information — admin @ 3:28 pm

SMARTBOX Portable Self Storage provides an excellent solution for businesses.  Our portable storage units are perfect for unexpected inventory build up or managing and organizing your overhead.  As a business owner, if you have the opportunity to purchase a surplus of goods to add to your inventory, your only concern is space.  SMARTBOX’s mobile storage pods serve as temporary floorspace.  There is no need to lease extra warehouse space when several Smartboxes can fill the need on a temporary basis.  SMARTBOX units are also well suited for document storage.  Many businesses are required to maintain hard copy records for several years at a time.  Our portable storage units are equipped with weather proof covers, providing you with security and piece of mind.  The size of the SMARTBOX container makes sense for businesses too.  Smartboxes hold approximately 235 cubic feet which allows your inventory overflow to be well organized.  Many businesses use multiple Smartboxes on site, using one for each unique product that demands the temporary storage.  Even better, Smartboxes are not unsightly, rusty sea containers that take away from your office’s image.

SMARTBOX and the City

Filed under: Portable Storage Information — admin @ 12:19 pm

As I drive through the city of Richmond, one thing is constant.  The “big box” carriers simply cannot place there product in the inner city.  Smartboxes are the perfect size for congested streets and narrow spaces.  Imagine living in any metropolitan area, trying to arrange for a sixteen foot box to be dropped off.  You probably won’t make any friends with your new neighbors by taking over their parking spaces.  Also, SMARTBOX units are dropped off using a Moffett, a highly maneuverable forklift that can navigate through the the tightest areas.  No more hydraulic contraptions that take a large area to deploy, all you need with SMARTBOX is a five foot by eight foot area, comparable  to a compact car’s parking space.

How much can you put in a SMARTBOX?

Filed under: General, General Moving Tips — admin @ 10:33 am

SMARTBOXES are the ideal size for apartment moves.  At Eight feet long, Seven feet high, and Five feet wide, each Smartbox can hold up to a room and a half of furniture and has a weight capacity of 2000 pounds.  Smartboxes can handle most apartment items, even king size mattresses and box springs.  Each unit sits only six inches from the ground, allowing for easy entry and exit form the box.  Also, each unit has a door that opens out, rather than one that rolls up.  This helps if you have large items that may shift during the loading, causing the door to be wedged shut.  For more information on what you can put into your Smartbox, click here.

In November of 2007, SMARTBOX was happy to announce a partnership with the American Red Cross.  SMARTBOX will become the primary provider of portable storage for the Red Cross in the event of an emergency disaster situation.  SMARTBOX containers will be provided to local Red Cross chapters for the storage of water and emergency aid, which will then be delivered to the disaster sites.  SMARTBOX is also proud to become the preferred vendor for Red Cross employee relocations.  Red Cross employees and volunteers will be given special offers for personal storage and moving services.
